Learning Environment

Enriching atmosphere that sparks joy and curiosity

What matters in your search for a Christian school? Is it a safe, caring environment? Do teachers and staff model kindness and love for others? Does it offer an enriching program that has the right blend of learning and play?

Lakeland Christian School’s learning environment encompasses these things and more. We’ve intentionally built our preschool program to help early learners be comfortable as they explore, play, and grow. LCS preschoolers flourish through:

  • Dynamic learning approach. Your child will discover a love of learning through different activities such as playing music, dancing to songs, making fun crafts, engaging in pretend play, and other hands-on experiences.
  • Strong parent partnerships. LCS teachers prioritize open communication with parents through emails, phone calls, agendas, and mobile apps. We value feedback and insight from parents to better understand and meet their child’s needs.
  • Character education. Daily Bible class, weekly chapel, and teachers who model Christ-centered values all cultivate our students’ spiritual and character growth.

Distinctives

Nurturing the whole child in mind, body, and spirit

God’s Word is central to our teaching philosophy at Lakeland Christian School. Your child will be immersed in a Christ-centered environment with teachers who model biblical values and apply God’s truth in every part of the learning experience. We establish academic, social-emotional, and spiritual foundations in our preschoolers through:

Foundational Academic Concepts

Your child will focus on building strong academic foundations through pre-reading and pre-math skills blended with play and other fun learning experiences. Whether it’s through reading a pretend shopping list, making a letter craft, or counting beats in music, LCS preschoolers absorb lessons in enriching ways. Core subjects include:

  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Number Sense
  • Problem Solving
  • Read-Alouds
  • DIG Curriculum (Letter symbol and sound recognition)
Social-emotional growth

Teachers at LCS work with preschoolers to develop Christ-like traits such as patience, empathy, and self-control while also empowering them to navigate big emotions such as excitement, frustration, anger, or sadness. Every part of our social-emotional learning is taught through a biblical lens.

Safe spaces

As parents, safety is at the top of your mind. LCS is committed to the safety and preparedness of its students, staff, and its visitors. We have many security measures, including locked doors, secured perimeter, secure check-in system for all visitors, and a school resource officer. Emotional safety is also a priority — teachers encourage a culture of respect, kindness, and caring for others.

STORIES

Seckel Family

We selected Lakeland Christian School for the strong academic component and intentional partnership focused on helping build and establish a biblical worldview for our son. We love how Mrs. Missy presents the gospel and the wonders of our Creator through the natural rhythms of everyday learning. We’ve seen our son flourish and grow in his confidence with both academics and knowledge of who God is. This K4 program prepares our son to enter kindergarten confidently and well-equipped with the necessary tools.

What do you love most about teaching preschool?

“I genuinely adore 4-year-old kiddos. They love to learn! Four-year-olds have so much growth during a given school year, and I love watching them learn new things daily. For most students, it is truly their first school experience.”

“Guiding them through their first steps of the educational journey is a pleasure and delight! I also love getting to teach Bible to my preschool students! It is a joy to watch them soak up the truths about scripture. I also love singing with them every day.”
